URL standards allow for only certain types of characters beyond the basic alphanumeric, using the ASCII character-set. In order to have other characters in a URL, you will need to encode your URL so it is internet friendly. It is also useful to decode, for example to turn encoded JavaScript URL with a barely readable text to a more readable text. A URL that contains a non-alpha numeric letter or character that will be encoded into “%” (percent symbol), followed by two hexadecimal digits. URL encoding replaces a space with either a plus sign (+) or with %20. It is always important to check the URL for usability after you have encoded it.
